BTB Feng Shui practitioners use the Bagua, an energetic map, lining it up with the front door of the house and that side of the building becomes "north" on the Bagua map. It can become confusing, so it is best not to mix the different schools together. Pick a school and go with that until you feel confident and learn much more. Most westerners are more comfortable using the Bagua map to orient the home and the different life areas. You could put all sorts of artwork/candles or what not on them. Another idea might be to find a tapestry you really like, or even to make one out of material you love.
